Attendance Policy
Attendance Policy
At Neurodiverse Community CIC, we understand that life with neurodivergent children and families can be unpredictable. We want our sessions to be a source of support — not stress. This policy is designed to be fair, flexible and understanding while ensuring our sessions remain accessible to as many families as possible.
We Get It
Some days are harder than others. Meltdowns happen. Anxiety spikes. Sensory overload hits. Plans change at the last minute. We understand — and there is no judgement here.
However, our sessions have limited spaces, and when a place goes unused, it means another family misses out. That’s why we ask everyone to follow a few simple guidelines.
Booking & Attendance
- Please book in advance for all sessions through our referral or booking system.
- Arrive on time where possible — but if you’re running late, come anyway. We’d rather see you late than not at all.
- Let us know if you can’t attend — a quick message or call is all it takes so we can offer your space to someone on the waiting list.
Cancellations
- Please give us at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel.
- We understand that last-minute cancellations happen — especially in neurodivergent households. One-off cancellations are absolutely fine. Just let us know when you can.
- Repeated no-shows without contact may result in your place being offered to another family on the waiting list. We’ll always reach out to check in before making any changes.
Non-Attendance
If we notice you haven’t attended for a while, we won’t just remove you from the list. We’ll check in first. A friendly message or call to make sure you’re okay — because sometimes the families who go quiet are the ones who need support the most.
Waiting Lists
Many of our sessions have waiting lists. By letting us know if you can’t attend, you’re helping another family access support. Every cancelled space that’s communicated is a space we can fill.
Flexibility & Reasonable Adjustments
We recognise that rigid attendance policies don’t work for everyone. If your family’s circumstances make regular attendance difficult, talk to us. We’ll work with you to find a solution — whether that’s flexible booking, online alternatives, or a different session time.
Safeguarding
If a child or young person stops attending without explanation, our safeguarding procedures may apply. We have a duty of care and will always follow up to ensure the wellbeing of individuals in our community.
