EmployAbility
EmployAbility is NeuroDiverse Community CIC’s inclusive employment support programme, designed to help neurodivergent and disabled people build confidence, develop workplace skills and move towards meaningful, sustainable employment.
Whether someone is looking for their first opportunity, returning to employment after time away, considering a change of career or needing additional support to remain in work, EmployAbility provides practical, individualised support throughout the journey.
Employment should be about recognising potential, not measuring how well someone fits into a system that was never designed with them in mind.
We understand that finding and keeping the right job can be challenging when traditional recruitment processes, workplace expectations or environments do not recognise different ways of thinking, communicating and working.
EmployAbility focuses on the individual rather than expecting the individual to fit into a standardised system.
Our support begins by getting to know each person — their strengths, interests, aspirations, support needs and any barriers they may be experiencing. From there, we work together to create a personalised pathway towards employment, education, training or volunteering.
Our approach is strengths-based, person-centred and focused on long-term outcomes. There is no one-size-fits-all pathway. Some people may need intensive support at the beginning, while others may only need guidance at particular stages of their employment journey.
Through EmployAbility, NDC aims to:
- Increase confidence, independence and employability skills.
- Support people to identify careers that reflect their strengths and interests.
- Reduce barriers within recruitment and employment.
- Help individuals understand and request appropriate workplace adjustments.
- Provide practical support before, during and after entering employment.
- Work collaboratively with employers to improve neurodiversity awareness and inclusion.
- Support progression into employment, education, training or volunteering.
- Help create sustainable employment outcomes rather than short-term placements.
Support can include CV development, job searching, application support, interview preparation, confidence building, workplace communication, understanding reasonable adjustments, identifying transferable skills and preparing for the transition into employment.
Where appropriate, we can also provide ongoing job coaching and support once someone enters the workplace.
EmployAbility is not simply about helping someone find a job. It is about finding the right opportunity, creating the right conditions for success and helping people develop the skills, confidence and independence needed to progress.
EmployAbility provides tailored employment support for members of the Armed Forces community, including serving personnel, Service leavers, veterans, spouses and partners whose career journeys can be affected by postings, deployment, relocation, caring responsibilities and the transition between military and civilian life.
Through our neuro-affirming approach, NDC helps individuals identify their strengths, explore suitable career pathways, build confidence, develop accessible CVs, understand reasonable adjustments and prepare for sustainable employment.
Where additional or specialist employment support would benefit the individual, we also work alongside and signpost to trusted Armed Forces employment organisations such as Recruit For Spouses and the Forces Employment Charity, helping people access wider opportunities, career guidance, employer networks and transition support.
By combining NDC’s specialist understanding of neurodivergence and disability with the expertise of Armed Forces employment services, EmployAbility helps ensure that Service-connected individuals are not navigating employment alone and can access the right support at the right stage of their journey.

How we work with employers and organisations
We also work with employers to create more neuroinclusive workplaces. This may include guidance around reasonable adjustments, accessible recruitment, communication, workplace environments and supporting neurodivergent employees effectively.
By working with both the individual and the employer, we can help remove unnecessary barriers before they become reasons for someone to leave employment.
For employers, EmployAbility also provides an opportunity to access guidance and support when recruiting, onboarding and retaining neurodivergent employees — helping organisations recognise talent, remove barriers and build workplaces where different minds can thrive.
BECOME A PLACEMENT HOST
Could your organisation help create a more inclusive pathway into employment?
NDC is inviting businesses and organisations to become EmployAbility Placement Hosts and provide neurodivergent and disabled participants with a supported, two-week opportunity to experience the workplace, develop their skills and build confidence in a real-world setting.
Placement hosts are supported by NeuroDiverse Community CIC throughout the process, including guidance around onboarding, communication, reasonable adjustments and use of the participant’s EmployAbility Passport.
Hosting a placement is not only an opportunity to make a meaningful difference to someone’s employment journey — it can also help your organisation strengthen neuroinclusive practice, recognise untapped talent and build greater confidence in supporting disabled and neurodivergent employees.
If your business or organisation can offer a supportive, inclusive placement and would like to become part of EmployAbility, we would love to hear from you.
